Highly-rated goalkeeper Andrea Consigli has no regrets about remaining with Atalanta for the 2013-14 campaign.
Consigli, born in Cormano, was being linked with a possible late summer move to Fiorentina, but the 26-year-old is still guarding the Nerazzurri net.
“They were just rumours,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport. “It’s always nice to know that there is such talk, but I’m happy in Bergamo.
“This is basically my home and I feel like an integral part of the project, I have done for the last few years.”
The former Under-21 international is a product of the club’s youth system who has spent time out on loan at Sambenedettese and Rimini.
He is also on the radar of Italy boss Cesare Prandelli who called him up a year ago – even if he remains uncapped at full international level.
“Being picked for the World Cup all depends on what I do here this season,” he added. “There is always hope though…”
