Massimiliano Allegri admits Milan’s defending “is not good enough,” but hailed their belief to come back from 2-0 down against Torino.
“Four minutes from the end we’d lost this, but the lads did well to believe. Torino played well, caused us a lot of problems and we left ourselves too open to their counter-attacks,” he said of the 2-2 draw.
“Alessio Cerci and Ciro Immobile had a good game in attack, while it was clear they could run at us and use their technique against our defence.”
Mario Balotelli converted a penalty to equalise with the last kick of the game, but the Coach turned his back to the pitch during that crucial moment.
Kaka made his ‘debut’ for the Rossoneri and played 70 minutes, but Riccardo Montolivo went off with a thigh problem.
“Kaka had not played for a while, though he showed great intensity and didn’t hold back. We have changed some things in our system, so it takes time to rediscover our balance. At the moment we are too soft in defence – by which I mean the whole team is not effective enough when defending. It’s not good enough.
“The ball was out of play, we had it and took it quickly. These things can happen. It’s only natural that Toro feel robbed, as they were 2-0 up with a few minutes to go, but we played fair.
“Until a week ago we had players with different characteristics, whereas tonight we had Kaka, Balotelli and Robinho in attack, so that changes things in the shape of the side. We need to find our balance quickly, but haven’t got much time because on Wednesday we have an important game against Celtic.
“Balotelli has a lot of responsibility on his shoulders, so with another striker next to him it gives him a little more space.
“Unfortunately we have lost Ignazio Abate, Montolivo, Stephan El Shaarawy and Mattia De Sciglio, but we’ll approach this game as best we can.”
After three Serie A rounds, Milan have a win, a draw and a defeat.
“I am not pessimistic or worried,” continued Allegri on Sky Sport Italia.
“We have to sort a few things out, but we did well in certain ways and must learn how to break down teams like Torino. This was similar to the game we won at the death last season.”
