Pepe Reina became the first goalkeeper ever to save Mario Balotelli’s penalty and confirmed he studied the striker.
“As always, we studied the Milan players. We knew Mario was very strong at penalties, but I managed to get it,” the goalkeeper told Sky Sport Italia.
Napoli earned a 2-1 victory at San Siro, a fixture they hadn’t won since the days of Diego Armando Maradona in April 1986.
“This was extra motivation for us, as we knew Napoli’s last win here was a long time ago and winning in a stadium like this against a strong Milan side really boosts our confidence.”
The Partenopei are joint top of the table alongside Roma and have a perfect record in all competition under Coach Rafa Benitez.
“As Benitez would say, we are still only at 73 per cent! It has been a great start to the season, but we are on the right track and like this we can win something.”
