Cannavaro needs games, says agent

The agent of Napoli’s Paolo Cannavaro has looked to defend the performance of his client in the 1-1 draw with Sassuolo.

The Azzurri were firm favourites to maintain their 100 per cent record last night, but the bottom of the table outfit stunned the Stadio San Paolo.

“I’m not a fan of the rotation system,” Enrico Fedele told Radio CRC on Thursday. “In my opinion, fielding a new defence was the wrong thing to do.

“Cannavaro is a player who is used to playing every game, when he doesn’t then he loses the rhythm of matches.

“Yesterday Cannavaro had a bad game along with the rest of the defenders. I’ve just told him to forget about it.”

The club captain was an untouchable in the side with Walter Mazzarri in charge, but he’s not assured of games under new boss Rafael Benitez.

So far this season, the centre-back has appeared in just two Serie A encounters.
