Cagliari midfielder Albin Ekdal could be out for up to three months after tests showed a muscular injury is worse than expected.
The 24-year-old Swede has been diagnosed with a serious strain of the adductor in his left leg, which will require anything from two to three months on the treatment table.
It’s a heavy blow for Cagliari, who already have Andrea Cossu struggling to regain his fitness.
Daniele Dessena or Sebastian Eriksson are the likely options to replace Ekdal in midfield.
