Vladimir Petkovic admits Lazio must “compliment Sassuolo and take a lot of the blame” for their 2-2 draw.
The Biancocelesti had a 2-0 lead at the Mapei Stadium, but were pegged back and fortunate not to lose at the death.
“I think at the end of the day a draw was the right result against a good Sassuolo that fought to the end. They proved it wasn’t a fluke that they held Napoli to a draw,” the Coach told Sky Sport Italia.
“As for us, we must compliment Sassuolo, but at the same time take a lot of the blame for not winning this afternoon.
“We had a few difficulties, that’s for sure, but we are having to use the same players due to injuries and there are another two games coming up over the next week.
“We are lacking determination and concentration to bring home the result. In the last 10-15 minutes we were practically in 10 men because Bruno Pereirinha couldn’t run anymore.
“Our main prerogative is to get as many players as we can back to fitness, as we need everyone at this time of the season.”
Hernanes was again frustratingly inconsistent at the heart of the Lazio midfield.
“Seeing today’s performance, everyone needs to give more, take responsibility and play at the right level to deserve victory. There’s no explanation for Hernanes, as he plays very well in fits and starts. Last year perhaps he had more confidence and needs to rediscover his smile by playing.”
