Ajax defender Daley Blind thought his side were ‘destined’ to beat Milan on Tuesday night.
The Dutch team looked to have scored a 90th minute winner against the Rossoneri, only for Mario Balotelli to net a penalty deep into injury time.
“It’s a shame about the result because I thought we played very well,” he told uefa.com. “We dominated in the first half without really creating many chances.
“In the second Milan improved and we were no longer able to impose our game on them.
“When we scored late on and Ricardo van Rhijn stopped a shot on the line, I thought we were destined to win.
“Then came that penalty!”
