Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis reveals Rudi Garcia asked him for “information on Walter Mazzarri” to beat Inter.

De Sanctis was Mazzarri’s shot-stopper at Napoli for many years, so knows his tactics inside out and proved useful in the 3-0 victory at San Siro last night.

“Garcia did ask me for some information on Mazzarri so we could take advantage of his weaknesses. We managed it with an almost perfect performance,” he said.

The Giallorossi have scored 20 goals and conceded only one so far this season, winning seven out of seven.

“If the overall context works, then the goalkeeper is helped. However, I wouldn’t like people to think I conceded just one goal in seven because there weren’t many opportunities! If Manuel Neuer or Petr Cech concede one, it’s not as if they make 12 great saves per game!”

De Sanctis was booked for dissent, even though the referee did eventually disallow Andrea Ranocchia’s goal for heading the ball out of his hands.

“The goal was correctly disallowed, but at first the referee had not given the foul. It was the advice of the assistant that steered him in the right direction. By that point I couldn’t take back what I had said, so it’s fair enough, I did deserve that yellow card.”
