“Matri promised us a goal since the first day he arrived here,” Montolivo told Sport Mediaset.

“We have great faith in him, as he has always scored goals in his career, so why shouldn’t he continue at Milan?

“Being captain of Milan is an important role that brings great responsibility. It was a decision made by the locker room and the club to give the armband to me.”

Mario Balotelli is suspended due to his three-match ban for insulting the referee.

“Opponents often go over the top with him, but he too needs to be smart and not fall into the trap of provocation,” noted Montolivo.
