The Dutchman joined the capital outfit in the summer after the Italians agreed to pay PSV an initial fee of €16.5m.

“I’ve only been at Roma for a short time, there is still so much more to prove,” the 23-year-old explained.

“I’m clearly satisfied with what I have done, but I could have done even better.”

The Stadio Olimpico outfit have been a revelation given that they are top of the League thanks to seven wins from seven games. They have scored 20 goals and conceded just one in the process.

“Judgements have to be positive after you win seven games in a row,” Strootman added. “The start has been good and we want to continue on this path.

“There will be difficult moments though so we have to be ready for when they arrive.”

Roma will face a tricky trip to Napoli when Serie A resumes after the international break.
