The Juventus man is the subject of increasing speculation regarding his future, having now entered the final 12 months of his current contract in Turin.

Linked with Tottenham and Real Madrid among others, the Corriere dello Sport suggest today that Inter are also going to be on the veteran’s trail.

Pirlo, whose career really took off only after ending a three-year spell with the Nerazzurri in 2001, is reportedly seen as the ‘gift’ signing that the club’s prospective new owner Thohir wants to sign to mark his arrival at San Siro.

Whilst it is seen that there remain many obstacles to a possible move, the report is that Inter are starting work on ascertaining the player’s objectives come next summer.

Pirlo is believed by the Corriere dello Sport set to only negotiate a possible renewal with Juventus come February-March next year, by which time he will also be free to negotiate with other interested parties.

The playmaker currently earns €4m a season but is expected to take a pay-cut on any new deal signed, as by the summer he will have turned 35.
