“It will be a tough game. Things aren’t going particularly well for Lazio at the moment, but this is a team that knows how to fight and run hard,” said Lopez.

“Lazio are alive and kicking, so let us not expect an opponent that is timid or afraid. They want to do well.”

At the same time, Cagliari have no intention of taking the Catenaccio approach.

“As for us, we have to fight for every ball, as without that attitude you don’t win. We need to hurt them, because there’s absolutely no point going to the Olimpico just to defend.

“I have a team that knows how to hurt the opposition and we’ll work to our strengths.”

Albin Ekdal is the only long-term absentee.

Cagliari squad for Lazio: Agazzi, Avramov; Ariaudo, Astori, Avelar, Murru, Perico, Pisano, Rossettini; Cabrera, Conti, Cossu, Dessena, Eriksson, Nainggolan; Ibarbo, Ibraimi, Nene, Pinilla, Sau
