Di Francesco: 'Spirit more than tactics'

Eusebio Di Francesco prepares Sassuolo for tomorrow’s game with Udinese. “Tactics are important, but spirit even more so.”

The Serie A new boys host Udinese on Wednesday at 19.45 GMT, having dragged themselves off the foot of the table.

“We are improving in terms of defending, but it’s still a long process and we mustn’t stop now,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

“I want my players to transmit a sense of defensive solidity, something that we lacked at the start of the season. Obviously, I then hope for more from the attack.

“One thing must be clear: tactics are important, but spirit even more so. Without the right spirit, you don’t bring home the victory.”

If Sassuolo are unbeaten in two rounds, then their opponents Udinese are coming off two consecutive defeats.

“It will be difficult, as they will come to the Mapei Stadium eager to turn that trend around. Francesco Guidolin is an experienced Coach and they have players like Antonio Di Natale and Luis Muriel who can hurt you at any moment.”
