Clarence Seedorf has insisted that he was ‘mistranslated’ after an interview suggested on Thursday that he left Milan because of Max Allegri.

Speaking to SporTv in Brazil, the former Rossoneri midfielder was supposed to have hit out at the Coach, claiming he was the reason for his departure last summer.

But today the 37-year-old has claimed that was not the case.

“The translation was wrong,” he told Sky Sport Italia. “My comments were not take as they were said.

“I hope Allegri does well, and I want to see Milan do well.

“I never wanted to attack [the Coach or the club] at this particular time. I am sorry if I have created any sort of controversy.

“I was simply responding to questions in which I explained why I chose to leave Milan. If my explanation was seen as an attack on Allegri, then I apologise.

“I respected the decisions made by Allegri, and decided to leave the club.”
