Buffon: 'Casillas was decisive'

Gigi Buffon praised Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas, but noted Juventus have other regrets.

The Bianconeri are still without a win in the Champions League this season, but held Real to a 2-2 draw in Turin this evening.

“This is following on from the results we achieved last season, but unfortunately these aren’t the points we dropped,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“You can win, draw or lose against Real Madrid, but the quality of their individuals in attack is impressive. They always make you apprehensive every time they go past midfield, as you know they can create something out of nothing.”

Buffon exchanged jerseys with Casillas at the final whistle and the Spaniard was perhaps Man of the Match.

“Casillas performed three truly important saves that in the end proved decisive for them to bring home a point.

“How would I rate tonight’s performance? Seven out of 10.”

Copenhagen beat Galatasaray 1-0 in Denmark, so those two sides are level on four points with Juventus last on three. This result opens up qualification from Group B, as it’s all very tight behind Real.

“I don’t know, as if they won then it means they’re no pushovers and we have to do our duty at home. Galatasaray are going to Madrid and they’re not beaten on paper either.”
