Germany squad to face Italy

Lazio striker Miroslav Klose is in the Germany squad for this month’s international friendlies against Italy and England.

The veteran hitman is just one goal short of becoming his country’s most lethal forward given that he, like Gerd Muller, has 68 international goals.

Italy will play Germany in Milan on Friday, before taking on Nigeria at Craven Cottage on the following Monday.

Azzurri boss Cesare Prandelli will name his squad for those fixtures on Sunday.

Goalkeepers: Neuer (Bayern Munich), Weidenfeller (Borussia Dortmund), Adler (Hamburg).

Defenders: Boateng (Bayern Munich), Lahm (Bayern Munich), Jansen (Hamburg), Westermann (Hamburg), Hummels (Borussia Dortmund), Schmelzer (Borussia Dortmund), Howedes (Schalke), Mertesacker (Arsenal).

MidfieldersGotze (Bayern Munich), Kroos (Bayern Munich), Muller (Bayern Munich), Bender (Bayer Leverkusen), Sam (Bayer Leverkusen), Reus (Borussia Dortmund), Bender (Borussia Dortmund), Draxler (Schalke), Khedira (Real Madrid), Ozil (Arsenal), Schurrle (Chelsea).

Forwards: Klose (Lazio), Kruse (Borussia Monchengladbach).
