Pippo Inzaghi is the favourite to replace Massimiliano Allegri as Milan boss should the club opt for a change of Coach.

Allegri’s future is hanging by a thread after a problematic start to the season which continued with the 0-0 draw at bottom of the table Chievo.

Vice-President Adriano Galliani will dine with Milan chief Silvio Berlusconi on Monday and the tactician’s future will be discussed.

Berlusconi was tempted to replace Allegri at the end of the last campaign, but opted to stick with the former Cagliari boss whose contract expires in June.

Milan are tenth in the standings. They have won just three League games this term and are already 15 points shy of the Champions League zone.

They are second in their Champions League group with five points from four games – five points behind Barcelona, but a point clear of Ajax and two ahead of Celtic.

Should Allegri – who has led Milan to a first, second and third-place finish in the top flight – be axed then the side is expected to be handed to Inzaghi.

The former striker is presently in charge of the club’s Primavera youth team.
