Marco Parolo has thanked Parma after he was called up to the latest Italian international squad by Cesare Prandelli.
After some impressive midfield performances and five goals in Serie A this term, the player is part of the party for the friendlies against Germany [Friday] and Nigeria [Monday].
“I’m really happy with this call-up – even if I‘m disappointed as Sunday would have been perfect had we beaten Lazio,” stated the former Cesena player after the 1-1 draw.
“I have a lot of people to thank – my family and my wife Caterina for showing me so much support,” he continued.
“I thank Parma who have given me the stage to play, who have allowed me to express myself at good levels again and to show everyone my value.
“I can’t forget boss Roberto Donadoni and his staff, President Tommaso Ghirardi, director general Pietro Leonardi and my teammates.
“Every one of them, in a different way, has contributed to allow me back into the Giro Azzurro. I thank everyone.”
Parolo was given his one and only cap to date by Prandelli in the March 2011 2-0 win over Ukraine.
