Philipp Lahm and Toni Kroos felt Germany “could’ve easily won” after their 1-1 draw with Italy at San Siro.

Ignazio Abate cancelled out a Mats Hummels opener, but the Germans also hit the woodwork three times.

“We could’ve easily won here and were the better team throughout the entire game,” Lahm told ZDF.

“We had the better chances, especially with a shot against the post at the final second. We did many things well this evening, though the result didn’t go our way.”

His teammate Kroos agreed that Germany had done more to deserve a victory in this international friendly.

“You could see that both teams wanted to win the game and it’s always valuable to test yourself against such old rivals, as it helps you realise where you stand.

“We were the dominant team tonight and played very well.”
