Higuain slams NJ turf

Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain was furious with American organisers after Argentina’s draw with Ecuador.

The forward played in last night’s 0-0 friendly in New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium.

“It was in no condition to play on,” Pipita told newspaper Olè.

“Chunks of real turf were on top of a synthetic surface, so our feet would sink much more than normal.”

Higuain went down with a knee injury at one point in the game, but appeared to shake it off.

“The ball kept slowing down and the turf was irregular. Thankfully nobody was seriously injured,” added Argentina teammate Ezequiel Lavezzi.
