Bologna boss Stefano Pioli has likened Alessandro Diamanti to American basketball star Kobe Bryant.
“Diamanti is our leader, but he also has to be a labourer,” the tactician told the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“For me, given that I’m a massive fan of American basketball, Alino is Bologna’s Kobe Bryant – even if their salaries are somewhat different.”
Italian international Diamanti, a creative attacking midfielder, has scored three goals in 12 games for the outfit so far this term.
Bologna have had a tough start to the season given that they have only collected two wins in Serie A.
And with the club hovering just above the relegation zone, Pioli knows the importance of the ties against Parma, Juventus and Fiorentina.
“I’ll now face three clubs who I used to play for,” added the Coach. “But we have to look beyond those matches as well.
“I’m here to keep the club in the top flight and I’m certain – 100 per cent – that we will be able to do that.”
