Adriano Galliani has confirmed he will resign as the CEO of Italian giants Milan after 27 years at the club.

Reports this morning suggested the official would quit after a breakdown in his relationship with Barbara Berlusconi and he has confirmed as much.

“I will resign with good reason in a few days,” the Vice-President is quoted as saying. “Maybe I will wait until after the game against Ajax.

“My reputation has been damaged and I will go with or without a severance package. A generational change is fine, I understand that, but not like this. A bit more elegance was needed.

“My future? I will firstly let off some steam. I’ll take a bit of time and then I’ll see. But my affection for Silvio Berlusconi is immutable.”

Barbara Berlusconi, daughter of Silvio, recently publicly questioned the direction the club was heading in under Galliani’s leadership.

Milan take on Ajax on December 11 in their final Champions League group game.
