“Milan are a great team who have missed many players and had various problems. The team is full of champions and, when they are all working together, they have great potential,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

He kept the Elefantini in a pre-match retreat to prepare for this game and insisted it was not “punishment” for their 4-1 defeat to Torino.

“We needed the time together to organise ourselves and the players requested this retreat, showing a real sense of responsibility. It was a positive experience and I have faith in the lads.

“I consider all the players, regardless of age or experience. We need a few positive results put together in order to rediscover our enthusiasm. We need consistency and with that we’ll be more confident.

“This Catania will be in the fight for survival to the very end of the season. It is therefore important to stay united and not get distracted by pointless controversy.”

Sergio Almiron, Mariano Izco, Gonzalo Bergessio, Giuseppe Bellusci and Milan-owned Kinglsey Boateng are all out of action.

Catania squad for Milan: Andujar, Ficara, Frison; Alvarez, Biraghi, CabalcetaCapuano, Gyomber, Legrottaglie, Monzon, PeruzziRolin, Spolli; Barrientos, Castro, Freire, Guarente, Plasil, Tachtsidis; Keko, Leto, Maxi Lopez, Petkovic
