De Boer ahead of Milan clash

Ajax boss Frank De Boer says his side have “nothing to lose” when facing Milan at San Siro on Wednesday night.

The Rossoneri are second in Group H and need just a draw to reach the last 16. The Dutch, meanwhile, will qualify at the Diavolo’s expense with a win.

“With a Europa League ticket already in our pockets, we have nothing to lose now,” the former international told De Telegraaf.

“When you looked at the group after the draw, the pressure was especially on Barcelona and Milan.

“For us, finishing third at the expense of Celtic was feasible, with Barcelona and Milan deciding who would come first and second.”

Milan are struggling for form, but De Boer knows his side face an uphill task at the Meazza later today.

“Only very few teams can win at San Siro. Barcelona drew and always had it tough. That says enough I think.”
