Mario Balotelli is “disappointed” Milan are the only Italian side in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The Rossoneri scraped through with a 0-0 draw against Ajax after Riccardo Montolivo’s early red card, while Napoli and Juventus go into the Europa League.
“After the dismissal we had to play on the defensive. I would’ve liked to score, but the important thing was not to concede,” said the striker.
“Other Italian teams could’ve joined us in the knockouts and I’m disappointed they didn’t, but at the same time I am happy for Milan.
“Do I have any preferences for the next round? None, as either way we’ll be facing one of the group winners.”
Milan can’t face Barcelona, having already played them in the group phase, so their draw will be one of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid.
