Parma stopper Gabriel Paletta has reiterated that he is ready to play for Italy rather than Argentina if selected.
Paletta was born in the South American country, but he has the necessary paperwork to wear the blue shirt of Italy.
“I’ve said it before and I repeat it, I am available for the call of the Italian national team,” the centre-back told Parma Channel.
“If Italy boss Cesare Prandelli should call me up then I would like to play in Azzurro.
“I am calm, I need to find my match rhythm again,” added the man who recently returned from injury. “First it is obligatory to do well with Parma, then we’ll see…”
Paletta, 27, is a former Banfield, Liverpool and Boca player who has appeared for the Under-20 Argentine side.
