Vladimir Petkovic has revealed his pride at becoming the new Coach of the Swiss national team.
The Lazio boss has been named as the new man in charge of Switzerland today, and will take charge after the World Cup next summer.
And the 50-year-old has admitted it is a great honour to led the nation, but insists that he is concentrating on the Biancocelesti for the time being.
“I am proud of the confidence the Swiss Football Association have placed in me,” he told their official website.
“I am also proud of the fact that I can guide this formidable team – my second home.
“I am convinced that we can achieve our goals at Lazio this season. The team is doing very well and I’m sure sooner or later we will come in for some luck.
“I want to assure people that I am not overlooking Lazio in the slightest.”
Petkovic’s immediate future has been thrown into doubt, with reports suggesting he could be sacked at Stadio Olimpico within the next 24 hours.
