The Italian Football Federation insist they have not spoken to any Coaches about possibly replacing Cesare Prandelli after the World Cup.
Prandelli is expected to leave once his contract expires after Brazil 2014, with a number of tacticians linked with the post.
“It is normal in the world of football that we are hearing names,” FIGC President Giancarlo Abete told Sky Sport Italia.
“However, this is just public opinion and news stories, it has nothing to do with us as a Federation.
“We have a commitment to meet with Coach Prandelli to verify the plans for the future and we hope he remains.
“If he opts to leave then we will make a different choice, but, as it stands, we have not spoken to any other people.”
Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri, Roberto Mancini of Galatasaray and Japan CT Alberto Zaccheroni are just three of the names linked with the role.
