Reports from Chile are suggesting David Pizarro could leave Fiorentina for a return to his homeland this month.
The 34-year-old’s future in Tuscany is in doubt given that he’s had a mixed opening to the season and his contract will expire in June.
According to El Mercurio, Universidad de Chile are interested in signing the playmaker once the January window opens.
Pizarro has played for the outfit before in the past when he spent a loan spell in 2001 while he was an Udinese player.
The South American has scored one goal in 11 League appearances this season – which have totalled 783 minutes.
Pizarro was convinced to remain at Fiorentina in the summer after initially stating that he wanted to leave the club.
