It has been an absolutely chaotic start to 2014 for Lazio, who sacked Coach Petkovic for breach of contract – something his lawyers are contesting – after he signed to take over the Switzerland job from July.
It is a return to the Biancocelesti for Reja, who spent almost two years on the bench before making way for Petkovic in June 2012.
Although he has been in charge of training since December 30, Reja was only formally appointed on Sunday morning.
Stefan Radu recovered from a knock to start, but the new boss introduces a 4-5-1 system with Senad Lulic, Antonio Candreva, Hernanes and Alvaro Gonzalez supporting Miroslav Klose.
The huge surprise is Etrit Berisha in goal rather than Federico Marchetti, but this is down to a muscular problem for the Italy ‘keeper.
Inter are also forced into changes, as Hugo Campagnaro sits out a ban with Saphir Taider, Mauro Icardi and Cristian Chivu sidelined.
Andrea Ranocchia steps into the back three with Ricky Alvarez returning from suspension.
Zdravko Kuzmanovic is a surprise starter instead of Javier Zanetti in midfield.
Fredy Guarin starts despite on-going transfer speculation linking him with Chelsea and Tottenham, partnering Rodrigo Palacio.
