Lazio President Claudio Lotito claims he sacked Vladimir Petkovic because “his mind was elsewhere.”
The patron fired Petkovic for breach of contract – something the Coach is contesting with his own legal action – after he signed for the Swiss national team from July 2014.
“The club never interfered with Petkovic’s choices,” Lotito told Sky Sport Italia in an ill-tempered interview ahead of tonight’s game with Bologna.
“We signed international level players. Up until now there has been a lack of tactical organisation and this negatively influenced their confidence. Evidently Petkovic had his mind elsewhere.
“Edy Reja has brought back order to the team and I hope with the new Coach things can settle.”
Lotito also denied making an offer for Juventus forward Fabio Quagliarella after the summer negotiations faltered and insisted Bologna have not requested Sergio Floccari.
