Fiorentina have confirmed “we are negotiating for” Manchester United midfielder Anderson.

The reports emerged in both Britain and Italy over the last 24 hours, suggesting the Brazilian would arrive on loan with an option to buy worth €5m.

“Yes, we are negotiating for Anderson, but at the same time we have other objectives too,” Viola director Daniele Prade told Sport Mediaset.

“There are many forwards we are looking at, many of whom haven’t been linked to us in the papers.”

Coach Vincenzo Montella also confirmed their bid for former Porto man Anderson.

“He is certainly a very good midfielder. I prefer to seek experienced players at this point, seeing as we have promising youngsters in the squad already.”

Although Manchester United paid £25m for him in June 2007, the 25-year-old’s contract runs out in June 2015 and Fiorentina are not prepared to pay more than €6m.
