Roma are reportedly renewing their interest in Everton man John Heitinga after Nicolas Burdisso’s transfer request.

Today Argentina international Burdisso announced he would be leaving the club in January because he wants more playing time ahead of the World Cup.

According to Sky Sport Italia, this has prompted Roma to renew their attempts to sign Heitinga.

The 30-year-old Dutch defender is on the market, but turned down an offer from West Ham, claiming it was not a step up in his career.

The Stadio Olimpico and Serie A would be the ideal next step for Heitinga and now the Giallorossi have a stronger reason to seek his signature.

His contract is due to expire at the end of the season, so he could be released for a small sum.
