Ricky Alvarez has mused on what is required for Inter to snap out of a recent downturn in form, as he talks of his World Cup hopes.

The Nerazzurri have seen recent form in Serie A decline and their hopes of making Champions League qualification all but end by the midway point of the season.

“We need to train at 100 per cent, work harder than ever and fight to win in every game,” Alvarez has told the Gazzetta dello Sport this week.

"We’re only thinking game by game.

“Refereeing? We have spoken about this… Not everything has gone the right way. We only ask that things are whistled correctly.”

The Argentine was asked about the summer’s World Cup and his ambitions to make his country’s 23-man squad.

“Obviously it would be a dream come true to take part. I’ll do everything I can to give my all and earn my chance.”
