Maran was fired in October, but recalled this week after his replacement Gigi De Canio was dismissed.
“I am pleased to hear the fans called for my return and that is an honour,” said the Coach in his Press conference.
“It might seem like a cliché, but it isn’t: I expect great support from the crowd in every home game. From the start I thought my sacking was unfair, but I wiped the slate clean. I am ready to begin again and fully believe we can achieve safety.
“Vincenzo Montella is a talented Coach in charge of a strong team, but I believe in my men against Fiorentina. This is the classic game we need to fire up the group and we can cause a shock.”
Maran has a few problems to deal with, as Francesco Lodi and Gino Peruzzi are suspended with Pablo Alvarez and Sergio Almiron sidelined. He hinted that he could use Mariano Izco in defence.
“It isn’t an idea we just plucked out of the air. I know these players and what they can give. I was happy to see their faces were 100 per cent convinced they could achieve this remarkable feat.”
