Immobile: 'Future not up to me'

Ciro Immobile is becoming a star at Torino, but concedes their rivals Juventus could be in his future. “It doesn’t depend on me.”

The striker is co-owned between the two city neighbours and currently impressing in the Granata jersey with nine Serie A goals.

“The World Cup is a dream for everyone, but first I have to achieve another dream with Torino. Can we get into Europe? First we must secure safety, then we’ll see,” he told Tuttosport.

“The fans are ambitious and that is a positive thing, but nobody here can predict the future or know what will happen.

“As for my future, it’s no mystery that it doesn’t depend on me. I am happy at Torino, so why should I want to leave? Everyone knows I am co-owned by Juventus, so the situation will have to be sorted out between all three parties at the right time.

“Meanwhile, I am focused only on what is best for Torino. I will admit I was nervous when I first arrived, as I didn’t know how the fans would treat me, but the Granata immediately made me feel like I was at home. They are fantastic.”

Immobile shot to fame at Pescara with Marco Verratti and Coach Zdenek Zeman, who reminds him of Toro boss Giampiero Ventura.

“They have the same focus on tactical details, the desire to play good football and never give the ball away. Plus they have that ironic sense of humour that helps in the locker room at the right moment. It’s important to create the right alchemy.

“It will be tougher for Torino in the second half of the season, as we are no longer a surprise package. We want to prove at all costs that if we got this far up the table, it was not a fluke.”
