Osvaldo was suspended by Southampton for two weeks due to an unspecified training ground incident, but details are beginning to emerge.

The former Roma striker got into a fight with his teammate, Portuguese defender Fonte, during training earlier this week.

“Appreciate everyone's concern and support but it takes a lot more then a bruised eye to stop me! Ready for tomorrow,” wrote Fonte on Instagram alongside this photograph.

It’s rumoured Osvaldo head-butted Fonte during a training session on Thursday after he was upset by a challenge.

Southampton could put him on the market just six months after he arrived from Roma for a club record £15m.

“The club has taken swift and proper action for what it considers a breach of the conduct expected of its players. Southampton will be making no further comment on this matter.”

It is not new behaviour for Osvaldo, who was suspended by Roma in 2011 for punching teammate Erik Lamela in the locker room after a defeat to Udinese” data-scaytid=”21″>Udinese.

Inter and Fiorentina” data-scaytid=”23″>Fiorentina could swoop to take Osvaldo on loan for six months, as they are both looking for strikers.

It is very likely Osvaldo will be dropped from the Italy team after breaking the code of ethics set by Coach Cesare Prandelli.
