Fiorentina director Daniele Pradè confirmed they are “evaluating” Modibo Diakitè, but not Philippe Mexes.
The Viola have made it clear they are looking for reinforcements in defence after signing Alessandro Matri from Milan and Manchester United midfielder Anderson.
“Fiorentina have done what we needed to do. We are relaxed and trying to get a few young players who haven’t had much space to find better solutions,” Pradè told TuttoMercatoWeb.
“Then we’ll evaluate the situations over the last few days of the transfer window. Diakitè? He is one of the names we are evaluating, but we are not in any rush, as Nenad Tomovic will be back from injury soon.”
Diakitè is familiar to Serie A as a former Lazio defender, but the 26-year-old joined Sunderland in July 2013.
Fiorentina had been heavily linked with a loan bid for Milan centre-back Mexes, though Pradè ruled that out.
“No, he is not one of our objectives.”
