Higuain: 'Coppa is an objective'

Gonzalo Higuain scored the winner in Napoli’s Coppa Italia quarter-final against Lazio and said “I’m truly happy here.”

Pipita netted his 15th goal of the season in all club competition, sealing a 1-0 victory at the Stadio San Paolo to knock out the holders.

“It was an important game, we’re in the Coppa semi-final and this is an important title for us. Thanks to the efforts of the whole team, we are in the semi-final,” he told Rai Sport.

“I am truly happy here. The team and the city are fantastic, I feel the love every day and I’ll be honest, I am happy here.

“The important thing was to win. Fortunately, we can go further in this competition.”

Napoli will face Roma in the two-legged semi-final next month.

“We have to focus on Atalanta now and after that we can think about Roma. Over two legs will be difficult, the important thing will be to win.”

Higuain was asked whether the Coppa Italia was a genuine target for Napoli this season, easier to win than Serie A or the Europa League.

“All three competitions are objectives for Napoli.”
