Report: Monaco go for Icardi

Sky Sport Italia claim Monaco are close to taking Mauro Icardi on loan from Inter to replace Radamel Falcao.

The French club have Claudio Ranieri on the bench and require a new forward after Falcao was ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious knee injury.

The 20-year-old Argentine has barely featured this season due to a series of sports hernia problems and underwent surgery.

He also hit the headlines repeatedly for his love life, having an affair with the wife of his former Sampdoria teammate Maxi Lopez.

This evening Sky Sport Italia are claiming Icardi could be released on loan to Monaco for six months with option to buy at the end of the season.

He is suddenly free to go because Ishak Belfodil’s move to QPR collapsed and now there is what Walter Mazzarri considers to be a surplus of strikers.

Inter are only in Serie A this season, as they failed to qualify for Europe and crashed out of the Coppa Italia to Udinese in the Round of 16.
