Inter President Erick Thohir trusts Hernanes and Danilo D’Ambrosio can “solve the gaps in the team.”

The club was active on transfer deadline day, snatching Brazilian midfielder Hernanes from Lazio” data-scaytid=”7″>Lazio for a reported €17m and wide man D’Ambrosio six months before his contract with Torino expired.

“I would like to thank President Claudio Lotito for making the deal happen,” he told videointer.it.

“I think Hernanes and D’Ambrosio are good for Inter and can solve the gaps in the team, because we needed some players added to the team to complete the season.

“We made a collective decision, because I think it’s very important we understand not only the strategy side, but also the team, marketing and finance. We needed to look at the whole picture.

“I would also like to say thank you to some of the players we loaned out, as it was very important for some of them to play ahead of the World Cup.

“It was also important we for the team not to be egotistical, so we could help them also. You never know, they can return to Inter, as the loan is only for six months.”

It was reported Thohir had several meetings with banks to get the financial guarantees needed for the Hernanes transfer.

“Basically it has been an exciting but tough week. Of course, we get through, as if we focus and work hard then I really believe we can get through this.”

Thohir was asked whether he was happy with his first transfer session as President, having only replaced Massimo Moratti in November.

“I think it was a good transfer market, which is why I say thank you to the players and Presidents who made the deals happen.

“This is football, there are no guarantees the players who join will change the performance of the team. We have to hope it is the best insurance and the best future for Inter to compete from this season.”
