Sassuolo Coach Alberto Malesani insists his relegation threatened side will improve given time, despite their 2-1 home defeat by Verona on Sunday.

The 59-year-old tactician watched his new side fall two goals down before Antonio Flores’ late consolation, but still believes the Neroverdi can survive under his guidance.

“My Sassuolo team can make it,” Malesani has enthused following his first game in charge.

“But I need to understand why, after our own goal, we didn’t react.
