Jose Mourinho says that Walter Mazzarri and Clarence Seedorf both need time and faith in order to restore Inter and Milan respectively.
Both clubs are enduring difficult seasons, but the Nerazzurri’s former treble-winning tactician believes that a return to success won’t be as immediate as the fans may hope.
“I believe that Mazzarri and Seedorf only need time and confidence from the club and the fans,” Mourinho has mused in today’s edition of the Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Let’s be honest - there are not so many top players in their squads to build a ‘supersquad’ in a few months. No, it takes time and faith.
“I am and will always be an Interista. I think that Mazzarri deserves this trust and needs time.
“I’m not a Milanista, of course, but I respect the club and its great prestige - I hope that Clarence can work with peace of mind.
“And that he can bring our rivals Milan to the higher positions in the table. Because Italian football needs the giants of Milan.”
Mourinho was asked of Inter’s change of ownership, which has seen Massimo Moratti step down as President and be replaced by Erick Thohir.
“Moratti has done so much, so much for Inter - he deserves respect, not criticism. He too is looking forward to the days of joy returning to his team.
“Inter are in good hands, with Thohir I had dinner once in Jakarta, I can say that he inherited from his father the same passion for Inter.
“In short, I ask for time and confidence in all of them.”
