Verona’s new signing Michael Rabusic says he’s here to learn from Luca Toni. “I compare myself to him.”
The 24-year-old Czech international put pen to paper on transfer deadline day, completing his move from Slovan Liberec to Hellas Verona.
“I found out about the move at midday on Friday. I am very happy with this opportunity and had already been following Verona’s results from the Czech Republic,” he said in his presentation Press conference.
“As a player I compare myself to Toni. We have similar characteristics, although he is truly a great centre-forward.
“I hope to learn a great deal from Toni and, above all, to make my mark at this club. The squad is united and I want to give my all to repay their faith in me.
“It is a source of great pride for me to have reached the level of Serie A, which is a dream come true for so many players, but I think I’m up to the task. After two very good seasons at Slovan Liberec, I am ready to test myself in Serie A.”
Rabusic has been given the number 19 jersey, which was vacated in January when Jorginho moved to Napoli.
“I didn’t know it was Jorginho’s. I have worn 19 in the past and I hope it can bring me luck again.”
He scored four goals in 16 domestic games this season, plus four in 12 Europa League fixtures.
