Mandorlini: Staying up still the goal

Verona boss Andrea Mandorlini has insisted that the club’s main objective for the season is to stay up.

The Gialloblu are currently in sixth place after their 2-2 draw with Juventus at the weekend, 19 points clear of the relegation places.

The Coach though, has insisted that his men just want to avoid the drop this term.

“Over the past few years we’ve formed our own character,” he told Rai Sport 1.

“We just have to keep following that principle and we can keep doing well.

“The atmosphere around the club is great, and it’s helping us do some amazing things. Our goal? For now, it’s avoiding relegation.

“When we’ve got to that step we’ll see where we can go.”

The tactician then remarked on Luca Toni’s astonishing form this season.

“Toni? He’s a gamble we took in the summer, and at the moment we’re winning.”
