Benitez: 'Napoli won't let me down'

Rafa Benitez is not afraid Napoli’s concentration levels will drop against Sassuolo between Coppa Italia and Europa League.

They visit the relegation strugglers on Sunday at 14.00 GMT, click here for a match preview.

“The team knows that tomorrow the mentality will be absolutely decisive,” assured Benitez in his Press conference.

“We’ve got to improve in defence, where we allow our opponents too many chances to score.”

Serie A new boys Sassuolo earned a shock 1-1 draw at the Stadio San Paolo earlier this season and hope to cause another upset at home.

“Sassuolo have changed with a new Coach. Back then they were a joyful team who liked to play openly, whereas now they are more focused on getting a result.”

Fresh from eliminating Roma in the Coppa Italia semi-final with a 3-0 victory on Wednesday, the Partenopei must also prepare for next week’s Europa League clash against Swansea.

“The players know that against Sassuolo we have the opportunity to continue our battle for second place and make a step forward. It will be a very important game for us.

“We also know a Coach is never satisfied, so I expect improvements even after our fine performance against Roma.”

Pepe Reina is again in doubt for the goalkeeping gloves, while Henrique is available after filing the last of the paperwork.

“Henrique is coming from a very different League to Serie A. He is training regularly and getting into shape.

“Gonzalo Higuain is fundamental for us, as he can make the difference and plays for the team.”

Benitez also revealed Napoli will offer Giandomenico Mesto a new contract, as the injured defender has barely set foot on the pitch this season.

“Mesto will be back soon and, thanks to his professional attitude, we have offered him a new contract.”
