Mauri wants renewal, but…

Stefano Mauri is reportedly angling for a new contract at Lazio, but President Claudio Lotito has so far failed to oblige.

The midfielder has recently returned to the first team picture at the Olimpico after serving a six-month ban for his alleged involvement in Calcioscommesse.

On from a couple of appearances for Edy Reja’s side, including a goal in his first start back at Catania last weekend, the 34-year-old is seen as pushing to open talks on a new contract to stay with the Aquile.

Mauri is believed to be asking for a €1.5m salary on a two-year extension, to commit him to Lazio until June 2016.

However, Sportmediaset have it that so far, President Lotito has yet to accept these terms, which would represent a 50 per cent payrise on the player’s current wages.
