Current incumbent Diego Lopez was widely expected to be sacked yesterday but clung onto his job for the time being, though his future remains far from certain.
“Me as the new Coach of Cagliari? I think that would be difficult,” Zola told Radio Crc.
“I am the last person you should be asking that question, even though in football you can never say never.”
Zola is currently out of work following spells coaching English sides West Ham United and Watford.
