Coach Stoycho Stoev pointed out Lazio “got it wrong” if they underestimated Ludogorets.
The Bulgarians earned a shock 1-0 victory at the Stadio Olimpico in a fiery Europa League tie that saw two red cards and two saved penalties.
“It was a very tense game from the start and there were many scoring opportunities on top of all those incidents,” said the tactician.
“We put in a fine performance and the win is gratifying, but it’s not finished yet. We still have to play the second leg.
“I can assure you next week we won’t focus only on defending our lead. This team is naturally attacking and we won’t forego that vocation, even if we start from an advantage.”
Stoev was asked whether Lazio had underestimated Ludogorets before this fixture.
“I don’t know, but in Europe this season we already proved our worth. If Reja and his men did underestimate us, then they got it wrong.”
