Lazio are seen as closing in on a new contract for Stefano Mauri and potentially also for Miroslav Klose.

The duo are both out of contract in the summer, but are seen by the Corriere dello Sport as in renewal talks with The Aquile.

Despite reports earlier this week indicating that Mauri’s willingness to sign on at the Olimpico was not necessarily reciprocated by Claudio Lotito, reports today are that this is in fact the case.

Despite reports earlier this week indicating that Mauri’s willingness to sign on at the Olimpico was not necessarily reciprocated by Claudio Lotito, reports today are that this is in fact the case.

It is understood that the recently returned captain and his club are in agreement over an extension beyond this summer, and hope to have the duration of the deal and financial aspects sorted over the next 15-20 days.

Meanwhile, Klose is also seen to have been handed a two-year contract extension offer and, whilst it is believed that his family will swing his decision, he is seen as happy in the Italian capital and considering the deal in place.

Both Mauri and Klose are also reported to be ready to turn down contract offers from the MLS. Mauri has apparently received a proposal from Montreal Impact, who have previously worked with Alessandro Nesta and currently have Matteo Ferrari and Marco Di Vaio in their squad.
